If you want to read a book where it feels like the author is sitting next to you telling his story, this is it. There were so many funny parts and then I would find myself crying. I wish it was a "must read" for young people as it has history and tells how people made it when life was hard. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I very much enjoyed reading this book. I also grew up along route 66, and it brought back a lot of memories. The book was well written, interesting, informative, and funny . I have ordered a copy for our friends to read. I would suggest this book as a good read to anyone looking for something entertaining and light.

The author makes you feel as if you’re living in the same story. This is a must read for all who grew up in the 50’s in rural America!

Just finished the book. Very enjoyable. Hard to put down.

A true story of a boy growing up in a small town in the 50's--the authors story of his life. it gives insights into what it was like growing up in the 50's . What kids take for granted today is not what it was like growing up then. You will also learn of the struggles his parents had just getting off of the farm and into a small town. This book has all of life's struggles in it--the bad and the good and how someone overcomes peer pressure and learns to do the moral and right thing to do.
