This translation by Legge is actually rather good--better, I think, than Wilhelm's. Legge was somewhat skeptical of the book and did not try to force a favorable light on what he was translating--as Wilhelm did. However, unless one is familiar with the I Ching, this Kindle version of Legge's translation will be difficult to follow. But for those who have a working knowledge of the book, this is a good version to have. For those interested in obtaining the best version of the I Ching, I recommend the Ritsema + Karchner version--not, ironically, because it is translated well but because each Chinese character used in the text is presented with all of its various Chinese meanings. This enables one to, quite literally, make one's own translation of the book.

The hexagrams should be numbered - it's almost impossible to navigate the book without that, unless you know them all by heart.

This wonderful and scholarly book is a great complement to other more user-friendly versions of the text such as Huang, and it is a great shame that this version of Legge's classic has no usable table of contents, no hyperlinks, and above all omits the wonderful introduction of the printed original. This great book is therefore rendered shallow and unusable by thoughtless and incompetent presentation. It is a waste even of the $1 purchase price.

One needs expansive knowledge

If you want to learn the alphabet. It has illustrations and tells you history about the chinese charaters and their meanings.

This is a Classic of Chinese Philosophy, who am I to review it? I can barely understand it.Meant to be pondered, I suppose, it is considered an excellent translation, again, I am in no position to know.

A basement to the understanding of this intricate and marvelous universe.
