This book provides a thorough explanation (825 content pages) of RSM with a host of additional references for deeper exploration into specific topics. This book assumes some statistics background but not an extensive amount (written for an advanced undergrad or grad student). For example, I had to figure out on my own what the critical F-value is and how to calculate it.Note that the some/all of the authors are involved in JMP development (from SAS). They use JMP output in some of the examples. One annoyance is the authors do not use good organization practices. Particularly, paragraphs are somewhat random and do not contain a main idea that is built up through the paragraph. As an example, in section 8.1, list of items is discussed. One paragraph begins by talking about the complete list, then focuses on the first items. The following paragraph begins by immediately focusing on the second group (no intro or transition), followed by the third, fourth, and then fifth groups. There is no common theme or idea connecting groups 2-5 that separates them from group 1.

Very comprehensive and complete book.
