Reading this short story was so much fun. I adore being inside the head of Tobiah. I'm not going to say too much about this one, just that it is amazing. And I loved the closer look on Tobiah and who he is as a person. This story shares how Tobiah first started going outside the castle walls. It is so much fun.Well, okay, it isn't going all that well for him, lol, but I loved reading about it. And I adore how close he and James are. They are amazing friends. And I like them both so much. Sigh. The Glowing Knight is a gorgeous short story. It is fun and exciting and a bit heartbreaking too. I loved reading every moment :)I won't say more about what this story is about, just know that it is all kinds of interesting and I enjoyed every moment. Five stars for this precious story. I just loved getting to read more about Tobiah :D He is my very favorite. And oh. There are two more chapters of The Mirror King at the end of this one, and they are perfection. Ahh. So much love. I just adored this short story so much. So glad that I read it. I cannot wait to read the other ones :D And to finally read The Mirror King. <3 Waiting for that one will be torture. Yet so worth it, I'm sure. I have such high hopes :D I am really wishing for happy ending for Wil and Tobiah together. <3I also wish to mention that I adore Jodi. She's the very best. So kind and awesome and her writing is stunning. Anyway. You all need to read this one :) Because it is all kinds of perfect and I adored it. The Glowing Knight has more of Tobiah, whom is my very favorite. And it is such a great story. I found the ending to be a little bit heartbreaking, yet so amazing. And the The Mirror King chapters. Sigh. I couldn't have loved that sneak peek any more. Wil is so amazing and I just. I need more of it all. Much more :)

This was even better than the first novella. We start to see a real story arc happen. And Tobiah starts to become who we know him to be in The Orphan Queen.I still adore Meadows' writing. It's beautifully descriptive in all of her books, including her novellas. There is much more action in this installment, and I laughed a few times at Tobiah, thinking of him mostly only as the way I already knew him (which of course was silly, he had to get there somehow, right?). It was fun watching his troubles and the way he conquered them. And I still love his best-buds relationship with James.Even the teaser of The Mirror King at the end was perfect. It had me at the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading, and it ended right at a cliffhanger. I can't wait for the next novella and of course The Mirror King to be released. If you like any of Jodi Meadows' books, read The Orphan Queen. And then you'll want to start these novellas right away!

Remember the mystery that started up in The Hidden Prince (the first Orphan Queen novella)? Well, new information is revealed in this second installment, as Crown Prince Tobiah dives deeper into the mission of uncovering what is going on in the city right under his family's nose. What I think is most interesting about Tobiah is how much he desires to do right by his people, how much he desires to prove that he's not just a figurehead but can also fight to do something real and concrete to help others. (James is also very present and wonderful, and there's another character who is pretty damn awesome.) The novella concludes with a revelation regarding an aspect of the mystery, and it's enough to whet your appetite and make you curious about what will happen next. (There's also more of The Mirror King preview at the end of the novella!)

I am enjoying the series, but I wish books 2 and 3 were marketed as (Orphan Queen: a novella). It has nothing to do with price, but more to do with expectation. Suddenly...it ends, but because there is a big chunk of "Sneak Peak" appended to the novellas, the hapless Kindle reader thought she had another half of the story to read and was settling in with fresh coffee and toast. It was kind of like reading a paper copy of a book and discovering half the pages are blank.So, although I certainly endorse the story, buyers should be aware that it's a novella. I know it says so in the summary of the book, but since I was already set to buy it based on the first book, I didn't read the summary. :P Okay, enough whining.

It's been forever since I read The Orphan Queen, & The Hidden Prince, do I was a bit disoriented at times, & things began slowly, but finished so awesomely, that I want to gobble up all things Orphan Queen all over again, starting 3 seconds after I submit this review.And I shall.I want the RESSSST of this series! It is SO well written & so wonderfully crafted! The world building is excellent, the plot intriguing & super compelling as well. But the best is the characterization; this author knows how to make paper breathe & slip you into her character's skin.I can't wait to dive back in!I HIGHLY RECOMMEND any and all pieces in this collection of surpassingly excellent novels.

I really enjoy when YA series include novellas between the releases of their books. It ties the reader over and allows them to keep in the world of the series. These novellas focus on Tobiah and are prequels to the series.This first novella shows Tobiah's first time putting on the mask. His persona of Black Knife is only beginning to form. I liked seeing the world from his perspective. It's cool to see the set-up for where we first see Tobiah in The Orphan Queen. I give this novella a 5/5.

These Novellas are just getting better and better. Seriously. I love love love reading the beginning stages to The Black Knife's creation. I love how Tobiah isn't awesome or amazing--he's clumsy and slow, but he wants to learn. I'm so in love with his character, and I like that Jodi can take her time and show us his journey.The mystery and plot gets even deeper--well it's not as much a mystery as a frustration Knowing, but needing to prove type thing. But still. The stakes are set and can't wait to read the next two!
